UK insurance brokerage Price Forbes Singapore has launched a new specialism unit focused on power, downstream and renewables.

Alex Davies has been appointed as director of this new unit. He brings more than 22 years of industry expertise in engineering and insurance to the role.

Davies will report directly to Philip Johnson, Asia-Pacific CEO.

His responsibilities will include advising and serving clients across the power, downstream and renewables sectors.

Davies has held senior roles at Aon in Asia as director of natural resources, and engineering positions in Europe with companies such as RWE, Carillion and Mowlem Engineering.

His specialisation lies in advising on contractual risk allocation, structuring insurance packages to meet contractual and lender requirements, and creating tailored solutions for client needs.

Davies stated: “I am thrilled to join Price Forbes at such an exciting time in its growth journey. The company’s culture, values and client-focused approach strongly align with my own. I look forward to working with the team and our clients to expand capabilities and deliver exceptional solutions for developers and operators in the Power, Renewables, and Downstream industries.”

Commenting on the appointment, Johnson said: “Alex’s extensive experience and in-depth technical industry knowledge will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our foothold in Asia’s rapidly evolving energy sector.

“His expertise and track record in the Power, Downstream and Renewables space dovetails with our growth plans in these exciting sectors and complements our mission to deliver best-in-class advisory and broking services to our clients.”

This move follows the appointment of Mike O’Mahoney to the motor fleet team as director.

Additionally, in November 2024, the company strengthened its global construction team in the UK with the appointment of Henry Morgan as director of construction.
