American insurer Sedgwick is set to expand its disability and absence solutions for mid-size employers in the market.

The company’s disability, leave of absence and compliance services will be now available to mid-size employers with fewer cases or covered lives. Previously, the company offered these services to large employers.

Sedgwick’s expanded service uses its latest technology that enables the clients to access one unified system and secure data regarding employee absence.

This data will provide employers with underlying reasons for excessive absenteeism.

It will also enable the development of appropriate interventions, from wellness to organisational development, noted the company.

Sedgwick workforce absence president Darryl Hammann said: “Expanding into a broader market will allow Sedgwick to bring our industry-leading disability and absence management services to so many more employers and employees.

“At Sedgwick, one of the cornerstones of our culture is caring counts, a philosophy that is reflected in every interaction with our clients and their employees.”

The company calls the expansion significant in the light of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

Following the expansion, the Sedgwick team will support employers of all types in simplifying disability and leave of absence.

This includes guidance and tracking for compliance as leave laws change amid the pandemic.

In addition, it will provide a single point of contact for the employees, supporting consistency.
