Swiss reinsurer SIGNAL IDUNA Reinsurance (SI Re) has appointed Robert Salzmann to its executive board and as the new chief underwriting officer.
The employment will be effective from 1 January 2025.
Salzmann’s career at SI Re began in 2014 when he joined as an actuary. His role expanded over the years as he was promoted to head of underwriting in 2023.
His expertise in the field was further established when he led SI Re ILS Markets & Retrocession, starting in 2019, after being appointed head of Pricing and ILS Analytics in 2017.
Prior to his tenure at SI Re, Salzmann was part of KPMG’s quantitative finance group from 2012, where he served as an assistant manager.
Salzmann holds a master’s degree in applied mathematics and a doctorate from ETH Zurich, RiskLab Switzerland.

Salzmann is also furthering his skills through an EMBA programme at the University of Zurich with a specialisation in Digital Transformation, stated the company.

Earlier this month, the company appointed Arnold Löw as its new CEO, with his tenure set to commence on 1 May 2025.
The current CEO, Bertrand R. Wollner, will continue to serve until his retirement on 30 April 2025.
