Sidecar Health, a US-based health insurance company, has launched its product in the state of North Carolina.

Sidecar Health permits its customers to personalise their health insurance plan, refer to any doctor of their choice and offer complete transparency into their health costs.

To guarantee transparency, Sidecar Health provides a payment card to its members which can be used to pay for their care thus enabling them to use discounts for paying upfront.

Members also know how much is to be paid by their plan for any health service owing to the fixed rate of their plan.

Using the Sidecar Health app, members can know the fees that the health care providers in their area charge.

Sidecar Health CEO Patrick Quigley said: “With over 1.1 million people uninsured in North Carolina and healthcare costs continuing to rise, the existing solutions aren’t working for everyone. We’re bringing a totally new approach to the market.

“We created an insurance product that provides good coverage to many of those who can’t afford existing options, and we’re excited to make that product available to North Carolinians.”

In August this year, Sidecar Health raised $18m in a new funding round led by venture capital firm GreatPoint Ventures and Morpheus Ventures.

Concurrently, Sidecar Health also launched its services in the Texas market.
