Commercial and property and casualty reinsurer Sompo has appointed Lily Claydon as chief risk officer for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, effective 3 March 2025.
Claydon will spearhead the company’s risk management strategies, governance and analytics across the APAC territories.
She will also focus on nurturing talent and enhancing capabilities throughout the region.
Claydon will report directly to Emmanuel Brule, chief risk officer for Sompo International and Kenneth Reilly, CEO for Insurance in APAC.
She is set to join the executive team based in Singapore.
Brule said: “We are very pleased to have Lily joining the Sompo Risk team. She has extensive industry and market knowledge which, combined with the strong relationships she has with our key stakeholders, makes her perfectly placed to define and execute Sompo’s strategic risk management priorities to support our important APAC region.”
Reilly said: “I am delighted to welcome Lily to our APAC leadership team. She brings 20 years of diverse experience across public and private risk practice and joins us at a pivotal time in our growth journey. I am confident that her breadth of experience will contribute to drive our risk management best practices and financial resilience across our entire APAC business.”
Claydon previously worked at AIG, having held senior risk management roles at BoltTech Group and FWD Group.
She is also a qualified chartered financial analyst and holds a double master of commerce and international business from the University of Sydney, Australia.
Last month, Sompo appointed Pablo Diago as chief claims officer for the APAC region.
Diago will lead the regional Claims function for both commercial and consumer businesses, focusing on operational excellence, service governance and talent development.
