Specialist Risk Group (SRG), a UK-based insurance broker, has acquired the ongoing business of Carriagehouse, enhancing its equestrian insurance capabilities.
Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.
This move is part of SRG’s expansion into different specialisms and follows a series of recent acquisitions in various other insurance sectors.
Carriagehouse, with more than three decades of experience, is engaged in offering tailored insurance products such as horse, horsebox, carriage and harness, and donkey insurance.
This acquisition complements SRG’s existing equestrian portfolio, KBIS, which joined the broker in early 2021.
SRG group deputy CEO Lee Anderson said: “This is a great deal for SRG and reinforces our commitment to investing in specialist sectors across the UK and internationally.

By GlobalData“KBIS are leaders in the equestrian industry and the addition of the Carriagehouse book will enable them to support a more diverse client base within this specialist sector.”
Carriagehouse director Fiona Gordon-Clarke said: “I am looking forward to further supporting our Carriagehouse clients as they move over to KBIS.
“The synergy between our teams and the comprehensive range of equestrian insurance products that KBIS offers will ensure our clients continue to receive the high level of service and specialist coverage they have come to expect.”
Last week, SRG purchased Tristar Special Risks, a terrorism insurance specialist, covering a range of commercial and residential risks.
This includes properties associated with political and religious organisations.
Earlier this month, SRG also completed the acquisition of Strategic Insurance Services Limited, a broker with a strong focus on specialist schemes.
These deals follow investments from Warburg Pincus and Temasek in May, which are aimed at propelling SRG’s growth into new markets, particularly in Europe and Asia.
