SunCar Technology Group has secured a contract to develop and operate the insurance management platform for Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Leapmotor.
The insurance platform will be integrated into Leapmotor’s mobile app ecosystem, encompassing insurance issuance, claims processing and accident services.

Established in 2015, Leapmotor offers a range of intelligent and affordable EVs. In 2023, Stellantis Group became a shareholder of Leapmotor.
With its in-house research and development (R&D) capabilities, Leapmotor’s business scope includes battery system development, electric drive assembly, intelligent driving, intelligent EV design, manufacturing, R&D and vehicle internet solutions based on cloud computing.
The latest contract signifies an expansion of SunCar’s existing partnership with Leapmotor, enabling it to provide core technology infrastructure service offerings.
The new insurance management platform will serve Leapmotor’s customer base, which has been targeting China’s middle-income market with “affordable” EVs.
The new platform will centralise Leapmotor’s insurance operations by automating policy issuance and renewal, enabling digital claims processing, coordinating post-accident services and integrating with Leapmotor’s customer app.
SunCar Technology CEO and chairman Ye Zaichang said: “This contract transforms our relationship with Leapmotor from service provider to technology partner. By powering their insurance infrastructure, we are positioned to grow alongside yet another one of China’s most promising EV manufacturers.”
Last month, SunCar Technology integrated DeepSeek’s AI technology into its cloud-based service platform and car insurance software-as-a-service solutions.
The integration will add “intelligent analytics and personalised solutions” to the platform.
Set up in 2007, SunCar specialises in the development and operation of cloud-based platforms that link drivers to various auto services and insurance coverage alternatives, supported by a sales partnership network across China.
