Canadian insurance broker Westland Insurance has expanded its national footprint with the purchase of property and casualty brokerage MSP Insurance, which operates as Mitchell Sandham Pastor Insurance Brokers.

This deal strengthens Westland’s foothold in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), representing its third collaboration in Ontario this year.

Mississauga-based MSP Insurance has been catering to the GTA region since 1957.

The company’s team of brokers offers personalised service such as professional insurance advice, ongoing policy maintenance and claims support.

Westland president and CEO Jamie Lyons said: “We are thrilled to welcome MSP Insurance to the Westland team.

“As we continue our growth journey across eastern Canada, we feel privileged to join forces with this outstanding brokerage, in no small part due to their tremendous leadership and passionate employees.

“We are looking forward to working with their team to continue serving Mississauga and make a difference in the lives of their clients.”

Westland, trading more than $3.5bn (C$4.86bn) of premium, has been pursuing growth in Canada through organic means and acquisitions.

The company’s brokers provide expertise and advisory-based services across various segments including commercial, personal, employee benefits, farm and specialty insurance.

In July this year, Westland acquired Excel Insurance Lloydminster and M. Butler Insurance, expanding into new Canadian communities.
