Also, the company has appointed Mick Turvey as regional underwriting manager of UK Middle Markets to head-up the new operation.

In his new role, Turvey will be responsible for strengthening the firm’s services to the regional broker community and their clients. He has 24 year experience in the insurance industry and most recently served as regional underwriting manager for Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance.
Commenting on the opening of office, XL Group UK & Ireland Middle Markets chief underwriting officer, Denis Burniston, said: "Opening an office in Manchester will contribute to the regional presence we have established through our Birmingham office and further demonstrates our commitment to regional brokers and business in the UK."
In addition to providing the companies with coverage for their UK operations, XL Group will support those expanding outside of the UK. Also, XL Group is looking to recruit two underwriters for the new Manchester office.
