Specialist insurance provider CFC, which focuses on cyber and emerging risks, has launched its first office in Spain, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global expansion efforts.
This move follows the insurance company’s recent growth in North America and Australia.
It aligns with its strategy to enhance relationships with broker partners by providing local expertise in key territories.
The new Madrid-based operation will be led by Filippo Cibin, who has been appointed team leader for southern Europe within CFC’s transaction liability business.
Cibin brings more than a decade of underwriting experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and financial lines insurance products.
Previously, Cibin has worked in Spain, Italy and Germany with companies such as DUAL, Tokio Marine HCC and Fusion Specialty.

By GlobalDataCibin said: “CFC has a strong reputation for delivering outstanding service to brokers and their customers.
“By combining that service ethic with CFC’s market leading technology and relentless drive to innovate, I am confident that Jorge, Oliver and I can add even greater value to our partners, not only here in Spain but across Europe.”
Joining Cibin, Jorge Nieto Luque has been named senior underwriter, who will be responsible for handling transaction liability, tax and legal contingency insurance solutions in southern Europe.
Luque’s background includes more than six years in transaction liability insurance and prior experience as a business and M&A lawyer.
Oliver Berridge also joins the team as senior underwriter, bringing nearly ten years of insurance industry expertise, particularly in M&A underwriting.
Educated in France, Berridge is also a fluent French speaker, which will be an asset to CFC’s operations in the region.
Completing the new team, Ilaria Salvato has been appointed as Cyber European team leader.
Salvato, who is multilingual in Spanish, Italian and English, transitioned into insurance 14 years ago after starting her career at a leading Italian law company.
She joins CFC from Beazley, where she was a cyber underwriting manager.
CFC Group CEO Louise O’Shea said: “We have built a strong network of brokers throughout Spain and southern Europe over the past two decades and are experiencing increasing demand for our products and services. To meet that demand and further develop our client base throughout the country, it is the right time to establish boots on the ground.
“Opening our new office in Madrid also allows us to build a hub from which to grow our presence across southern Europe and in particular deepen our expertise in cyber and transaction liability in the Spanish, Italian and French markets.”
